New Year's Traditions

I met my sweetheart Barb on New Years Eve 1984.

June 3rd next year we will have been married 30 years.

Every New Years Eve we watch "our" movie Brigadoon

Our New Years Eve meal is something I call "Kabarbs."

They are marinating in the fridge currently.

Pigeonholed

I some times surprise folks when I tell them I fish for other species other than small stream trout.  Most anything that swims in Wisconsin  I have chased one time or another.

The Stream Of Time

Breeches

I often take photos of wildflowers while out there in search of trout.

Some wildflower names stick in your memory.

One of those that I often take photos of are Dutchman's Breeches.

These more rounded breeches are from Gays Mills area.

These more straight legged breeches are from near Star Valley.

These dainty and beautiful ones live near Soliders Grove.

Bumble bees are the prime pollinator for these wonders of Crawford County's finest Spring array.

The pollinated flower remnants are carried away by ants to their nests. The ants eat part of the flower and leave the seeds behind in their nests to be sheltered by mother nature for the next Spring.

Ice On The Kickapoo

Last time I was home to visit my mother I fished a little in the open water below the dam there.

The fish were not agreeable.

I took a couple photos.  They were not the best so I had my wife tweak and enhance them for me.

The Stream Of Time

An early fall morning shrouded in fog.

A late January crisp morning.

Each has its beauty

Smelling Good

My bean soup with bacon and ham is smelling good.  I put in the crock pot at 8am.

The house smells amazing.

Excited

Fire up trout fishing friends.

Less than three weeks out!

Log Book Stats

I looked back to my five biggest small stream trout I have ever caught.

All were caught on mono.  I bought some top end fluorocarbon today.

Four of the five were caught on stick baits.  Bought 25 stick baits today.

What was old is new again.

I also dug in my big tackle box from five years ago.  I added the 10 salmo stickbaits Tomy gave me also.

Sidetracked

While I am out chasing trout I get a little off track when nature beckons.

2018 Was A Good Year For Me

In between the flooding and tall grass and scads of gnats and mosquitoes there were a few memorable trout for me.

With the weather being so flippant I left a few bigs I discovered without having a photo of them.  2019 will be a different story.
