Blind Potential

You are in ice cold water wading slowly and stealthily with a unwritten slate before you.

If the blind potential of what lies before you in the underwater labyrinth doesn't excite you.....

The Outdoors

“A while ago I made a comment to an acquaintance about trout fishing being so important to me, and he dismissed it. He said trout fishing was the least important thing he does in life and I shouldn’t make it so important. I wholeheartedly disagree with him.

Many people go to church to feel spiritual and be in touch with the universe. I go into the outdoors to cleanse my soul. All the things in life that bother me are melted away about a hundred yards from the truck. The fish are only a bonus in the whole scheme of things.”

One year ago today

One year ago today I left Venice Italy for the last time.

I have been there 9 times in my lifetime.

Each time was a different adventure.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Life

End Of Days

My wife Barbara was storm chasing out on Cemetery Hill tonight taking photos of cloud to cloud lightning.

Zebco, Pike and Walleye

Went down to dam this morning.  Started out the morning with the second rod and reel caught of the year.  This Zebco 33 was frozen up or would have kept it.  Left it in the garbage can there.
Next hook up was a small walleye.  It went back in.
I finished the morning with this hammer handle.
I changed lures numerous times but all three were caught on below.

Yellow and black garden spiders

Driving my recliner this morning and decided to look up the information on these spiders I took photos of yesterday.

They both had their own webs but they were connected.  I assumed it was an adult spider and its small offspring.

Of course I was wrong but I learned something.

Male garden spiders as seen below are much smaller than the females.

Female garden spiders as seen below grow much larger than males.
