The Trout Angler's Edge

HUGE small stream browns become carnivores after about 18 inches.  Lose the small stuff and size up your gear to avoid long line releases.

Dreaming of the days before gill lice ravaged my local streams.

The Trout Angler's Edge

I preach about small trickles feeding into streams......

The thermal effect is of what I speak.

The same is true for streams emptying into rivers like the Pine, Kickapoo and Wisconsin.

You might run into pike feeding on trout there also.

In 2016 try any stream feeding into the Kickapoo.

A couple places to consider are Elk, Day, Jug, Camp, Harrison, Plum, Citron, Halls, Sand, Crow, and the 2 Otters.

Approach the feeders downstream in the main channel.

These are BIG Trout areas.  Leave your ultra light and anything under a 4 weight at home.

What Makes A Good Writer or Photographer?

I am asked often what I think makes a good writer.  I typically answer I don't consider myself a writer.  I prefer being called a teller of tales.

The best punctuation, spelling and sentence structure is absolutely worthless without this one quality.  If you strain to think of what I mean or the answer maybe you don't have it.

It is the same with photography. The fanciest camera with all the bells and whistles will be utterly useless without this.  The perfect photo can't be captured with the HDR setting or a filter.

If you don't already know of what I speak I will tell you.
